North Korea: Or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Write this Blog

Geronimo! Just love waking up to a fresh headline shouting at me, "NORTH KOREA PLANS TO CONTINUE AGGRESSIVE MANEUVERS AGAINST SOUTH KOREA" or "CLINTON SAYS THAT U.S. WILL DEFEND S. KOREA IN THE EVENT OF INVASION". It's nice when your morning read grips you around the neck and pounds your head down on the table, and when you try to recoil and shake it off you see that people in Africa are starving, and people in America are still jobless. It's not depressing, nooo sir! Depressing is when you realize that Old Yeller, for better or worse has to be put down with a swift bullet to the cranium, spattering his brains all over the grassy field, the same field that mangy dog has played in his whole life. What's that? North Korea? Nukes? Hillary Clinton? Ah yes! Good ol' Clinton, she's a hoot, I remember when she went on TV and publicly denounced Obama and said she would bite his head off if she ever sniffed him in the same room, but times have changed I guess.

What? What? No, never happened? Your probably right, but it doesn't hurt to check those facts. WikiLeak it! Huh? Pentagon purportedly spied on other countries? YE GODS! Hmmm...what should we do with N. Korea? Let's plaster them baby! Bomb 'em into the earth! No? Not diplomatic enough? Too cruel? I see. Well let's get the good ol' boys of the U.S. Boy Scouts to round up a few hundred mangy, flea riddled badgers and let's drop those creatures onto Kim Jong Il's front yard! You ever seen a badger after a 5,000 foot free fall? WHOAA mama! Fierce creatures, probably tear the place apart, wouldn't leave a single thing standing. It'd be absolute devastation. I'll get to work drawing up the plans for this one, meanwhile you make sure you stay hunkered down under your desks or in your bath tubs in case one of the loonies decides to run wild here in the States!

Whoops! I seem to have babbled on about nothing this time...something, something about the changing weather and the leaves falling, you know, climate and all that...huh?!

Sunsets

I like to think Sunsets are the Sun's way of saying,"Hey, sorry for waking you up, burning your skin all day, and making the inside of your car an oven. How about a nice light show to cheer you up?"

Cologne

Why is cologne mandatory for me to have? I don’t smell bad, so why should spray stuff on me to smell different? Does it make me more attractive to the opposite sex? I don’t think I want someone to like me because they’re attracted to me like a guy deer is attracted to girl deer urine. Plus cologne makes me sneeze and it’s expensive. Sure in high school you could get away with the “cheap” $20 stuff, but no no. Not anymore. If you aren’t spending at least $40 you’re going to smell like an old man.

I don’t have a problem with other people wearing cologne, just please keep it down to a couple sprays. This applies to the ladies as well. I don’t want to smell your chanel no. 5 an hour after you’ve walked through a room. Everything in moderation.

The most egregious use of cologne is the “cover up.” If you already smell, there is no amount of cologne you can douse yourself with to mask your musk. It’s like to trying to put out an electrical fire with water. Just makes it worse.

Spring 2010

Well I finally finished the spring quarter and get to enjoy a nice long break (3 weeks.) I had some pretty cool classes and had some fun projects to work on. So here are some of my favorite projects/homework of the quarter.

change of plans. Turns out this is the absolute worst place to put large amount of images, so I decided to make a flickr account instead. Here is the link http://www.flickr.com/photos/51369249@N07/

Also, I've been wanting to try out a "mailbag" post for awhile which would mean I need some people to send in stories, questions, rants, or anything else that's on your mind. This would help me immensely seeing as the art institute is extracting the creative out of me. The email to send in your stuff is bpandkc@gmail.com

Artist of the Month

This is the first installment of a (hopefully) monthly post for my favorite artist of that particular month. Poorly worded sentences aside, the artist of the month for June is Michael Schwab. I recently discovered Mr. Schwab and he has quickly became my favorite designer of all time. Michael is a graphic artist that works out of California, but is originally from Oklahoma. He has attended school in Texas, New York, and California which can be seen in his work. Schwab's work utilizes large areas of flat colors to create images that appear effortlessly simple. So without further ado here are some my favorites.

Just found the twins one above, really excited about it. Hopefully when I go to a game in a couple weeks they have some more of the schedules! Anyways, here is a link to Schwab's site http://www.michaelschwab.com/ and drop a comment if you enjoy his work or would like to argue his brilliance.

P.S. If you love me, you should buy me a Michael Schwab print. It's only $300...

Hey long time no see! How are you? You look different. New hair cut? Anyways, enough with the small talk. I realize it's been about half a year since the last post and I don't care! I don't owe you anything!

Sorry about that. It had to be done. Well after some convincing from my brother, I've decided to do some more posts. These posts will probably end up being all sorts of things like: top 10 lists, art projects I'm working on, half baked ideas, and maybe, just maybe our very own podcast. So to get myself back in post making mode here is my top 5 list of podcasts. After working a very...let's say "slow paced" job...for about a year, I consider myself to be a podcast expert. I've spent many hours with these podcasts and they are excellent....so listen to them!

1. The Adam Carolla Podcast- Comedy podcast full of rants and interesting interviews. This is an everyday podcast, so if you can't keep up with all of them you can always just browse for the guests that you've heard of.
2. Comedy Death-Ray Radio- Comedy podcast that features some of the biggest names in comedy. Only comes out on Fridays, but almost never disappoints. Seriously. Download it. A good one to start with is the "Best Of" podcast.
3. The B.S. Report- A mostly sports podcast from my favorite sports columnist Bill Simmons a.k.a The Sports Guy. This podcast has big names in entertainment, writing, and sports. My favorite are the ones feature Jacoby and Wildes.
4. Never Not Funny- Comedy podcast hosted by Jimmy Pardo. This podcast features hilarious banter and funny interviews. The free download is only 20ish minutes long, but you can buy full length hour and a half podcasts on his website.
5. Superego- Comedy podcast that is quite possibly my favorite. This podcast is only 20ish minutes long and only comes out once a month but is guaranteed hysterical. It is comprised of short improv sketches with hilarious reoccurring characters and the occasional guest comedian.

So thats about it. We're going to try to make posts more consistently, but then again we said that in the past. Also, feel free to contact us if you're interested in contributing to the blog.
